ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

The Balrogs were originally Maiar, but once seduced by Melkor and brought under his command, they became his most terrible servants, having the form of huge fiery demons, quintessential terror. While Balrogs were mostly destroyed during the War of Wrath, the last surviving Balrog, Durin’s Bane, found refuge in the caves of the Misty Mountains. As the Fellowship of the Ring was moving through the mines of Moria, the Balrog attacked them and became faced with Gandalf, also a Maia. Though this was a battle of equals in strength and power, Gandalf managed to defeat his enemy and threw him off the peak, but the fight cost him his own life as well.

The Balrog 3D printer model completes the diorama "Gandalf the Grey vs Balrog" and alternatively can be displayed as an individual collectible. ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

Balrog 3D printing design is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took the Gambody team 65 hours in total. The model' anatomy and proportions were thoroughly reviewed during the moderation process for the monster to be depicted harmoniously in the intended pose.

The model's cutting was chosen by our team to minimise the amount of generated support and some of the parts were hollowed out for you to save resin in the Eco version. In order to conceal the places where the assembly parts of the model are connected, Balrog was divided into convenient assembly parts.

All assembly parts in the FFF/FDM 2.0 version are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any model's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 2.0 and DLP/SLA 2.0 versions in PDF format. We highly recommend that you get acquainted with the “Assembly Video” and "Assembly Manual" before getting down to Balrog 3D printer model in diorama.

The design is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from Balrog's actual height that is 5000 mm. The 3D printing design's chosen scale is 1:8 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:16 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.

VERSIONS' SPECIFICATIONS

FFF/FDM 2.0 version features:

• Contains 68 parts;
• A printed model is 700 mm tall, 716 mm wide, 634 mm deep;
• The model features new, upgraded design;
• Enhanced level of detail;
• 2 variants of weapons: a flaming sword and a fire whip;
• Gandalf the Grey and Balrog can combine in a diorama. Gandalf the Grey is sold separately.

DLP/SLA 2.0 and DLP/SLA Eco 2.0 versions' features:

• Each contains 49 parts;
• A printed model is 350 mm tall, 358 mm wide, 317 mm deep;
• The model features new, upgraded design;
• Enhanced level of detail;
• 2 variants of weapons: a flaming sword and a fire whip;
• DLP/SLA Eco 2.0 contains some hollowed out parts to save resin;
• Gandalf the Grey and Balrog can combine in a diorama. Gandalf the Grey is sold separately.

SLS 2.0 version features:

• Contains 3 parts - solid Balrog model with a sword and a whip and a platform.

FFF/FDM 1.0 version features:

• Contains 59 parts;
• A printed model is 707 mm tall, 721 mm wide, 640 mm deep;
• Assembly kit includes locks to connect the model's parts securely without glue. One lock _Ge_lock_10H_(x108) needs to be printed 108 times; lock 6_Ge_lock_7S_(x5) needs to be printed 5 times;
• Made with a platform to resemble the character's iconic battle with Gandalf the Grey;
• All parts are divided in such a way that you will print them with the smallest number of support structures.

DLP/SLA 1.0 version features:

• Contains 15 parts;
• A printed model is 354 mm tall, 361 mm wide, 320 mm deep;
• Made with a platform to resemble the character's iconic battle with Gandalf the Grey;
• All parts are divided in such a way to fit the build plates and to make sure that support structures are generated where needed.

DLP/SLA Eco 1.0 version features:

• Contains 15 parts;
• A printed model is 354 mm tall, 361 mm wide, 320 mm deep;
• Made with a platform to resemble the character's iconic battle with Gandalf the Grey;
• Contains some hollowed out parts to save resin.

DLP/SLA 1.1 and DLP/SLA Eco 1.1 versions features:

• Each contains 23 parts;
• A printed model is 354 mm tall, 361 mm wide, 320 mm deep;
• These updated versions were cut into more assembly parts for all of them to fit the build plates of the smallest DLP/SLA printers;
• Made with a platform to resemble the character's iconic battle with Gandalf the Grey;
• DLP/SLA Eco 1.1 contains some hollowed out parts to save resin.

SLS 1.0 version features:

• Made as a solid one-piece model;
• A printed model is 354 mm tall, 361 mm wide, 320 mm deep;
• Contains 2 parts - one-piece Balrog model with the platform separated.
