ABOUT THIS 3D FIGURINE
C-3PO, or simply Threepio, is a humanoid droid with service-oriented personality who is programmed for human-cyborg relations assistance and for preserving etiquette and protocol during multicultural diplomatic negotiations. Having served some political emissary for more than 80 years, C-3PO was destroyed and left on the planet Tatooine where the droid was discovered and reconstructed by Anakin Skywalker. The enormous amounts of diverse information and up to six million galactic languages saved on C-3PO’s memory discs saw extensive use during the events of the Galactic War.
Our contributing 3D artist decided to sculpt C-3PO with the protocol droid’s wiring fully exposed or with his “parts showing”, as wittily noted his future partner, the astromech droid R2-D2. Depending on your favourite Star Wars episode, you may choose to give your 3D printed C-3PO his gold platings with a silver shin, or even a tarnished grey plating to shield the droid from Tatooine's sandy environment. Either way, you can never go wrong with 3D printing the talkative protocol droid!
ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING + 1.1 UPDATE
C-3PO figurine for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its updating and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 34 hours in total. The figurine's connecting elements needed to be reviewed so the decision was reached to cut it into assembly parts anew and to adapt it for different types of 3D printers taking into account the present-day technology advancements.
Thus, the model was thoroughly reviewed during the moderation process and its cutting was chosen by our team to minimize the amount of filament needed for generated support and some of the parts were hollowed out for you in the model’s Eco version to save resin. In order to ensure the smooth 3D printed result, C-3PO figurine was divided into multiple parts, i.e. figurine’s head, the restraining bolt mount, servomotors, hands, etc. are provided as separate parts.
All the assembly parts are provided in STL files of FFF/FDM 1.1 in recommended positions that were worked out so to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any figurine's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 1.1 and DLP/SLA 1.1 versions in PDF format.
The figurine is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.
The model's scale was calculated from C-3PO's actual height that is 1750 mm. The 3D printing figurine's chosen scale is 1/8 for the FFF/FDM version and 1/16 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.
