ABOUT THIS 3D FIGURINE

Gul’dan is known to be the first orc shaman turned warlock and is famous for being the founder of the Horde. As far as we know, Gul’dan was born rather weak physically and was forced to leave his former clan on Draenor. Hoping to make up for his weakness, the orc developed a talent working with the elemental forces of shamanism. His exceptional abilities were noticed by the elder shaman of the Shadowmoon clan Ner’zhul, who later chose Gul’dan to be his apprentice. Promised to become a powerful master of warlock magic by the demon lord Kil’jaeden, Gul’dan was manipulated into leaving the path of a shaman and betraying his people and his mentor Ner’zhul. As a result, under Kil’jaeden’s banner, the orcs fell under the influence of the demons and the bloodthirsty Horde was formed. In order to gather around himself powerful allies, Gul’dan trained outstanding orcs who later became the members of the Shadow Council that had enough power and influence to control almost every aspect of the orc society. Moreover, Gul’dan is responsible for creating the horrific spawn of necromancy Death Knights. Gul’dan most often called himself “Darkness Incarnate” and “Destroyer of Dreams”.

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

The model’s moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers was conducted by Gambody team. The model’s cutting was chosen by our team to minimise the amount of filament needed for generated support and some of the parts were hollowed out for you to save resin in the figurine’s Eco versions. In order for the assembly parts of the model’s 1:16 versions to fit the build plates of smaller resin 3D printers, there were DLP/SLA 1.1 and DLP/SLA Eco 1.1 versions introduced that are divided into more pieces. For you to easily conceal the places where assembly parts of the model must be connected, the figurine was cut along the contour of Gul'dan’s clothes seams. What is more, in order to ensure an excellent quality of the 3D printed result, such smaller parts as Gul'dan’s stick, necklace, all back horns, parts of clothing and even shaman's fangs are provided as separate parts as well. All the assembly parts are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out so to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate.

The figurine is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from Gul'dan's actual height that is 2300 mm. The 3D printing figurine's chosen scale is 1/8 for the FFF/FDM version and 1/16 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.

Below you can find printing recommendations for Cura, Simplify3D, Slic3r and PrusaSlicer software.

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use, and especially the particular assembly part you are working with. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review, and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

Note:

  • You can scale up the model (downscaling for FFF/FDM 3D printers is not recommended!);
  • All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill.
