Printing Details

This 3D Model of the Planet Express Ship 3D Printing Model consists of files in StereoLithography (.Stl) format that is optimized for 3D printing.

Before printing the files, we strongly recommend reading the PRINTING DETAILS section.

ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

The Planet Express ship, renowned across the galaxy, soars through the vastness of space with a futuristic grace. As it zips through wormholes and dodges asteroids, its sleek silver exterior glistens under the glow of distant stars. Leela, the ship's capable captain with a fiery determination, steers it with expert precision, while Fry, the lovable yet clueless delivery boy, marvels at the wonders of the cosmos through the ship's panoramic windows. Together, they embark on daring adventures, delivering packages to strange planets and encountering bizarre extraterrestrial beings. Powered by Professor Farnsworth's ingenious inventions, the ship effortlessly navigates through space-time, utilizing its advanced propulsion systems and defying the laws of physics. With Bender, the mischievous robot with a knack for bending the rules, on board, the ship is always brimming with laughter and unpredictable antics. From the bustling streets of New New York to the distant reaches of the universe, the Planet Express ship is an emblem of adventure, friendship, and the boundless possibilities that await humanity in the future.

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

The Planet Express Ship model for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took the Gambody team 88 hours in total.

For you to receive the cleanest 3D printing result possible, minimize the amount of filament needed for generated support, and make use of the active elements designed by Gambody Engineers, the robot was divided into convenient assembly parts.

All assembly parts in the FFF/FDM 1.0 version are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won’t face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any model’s file you will also receive “Assembly Manual” for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF and video formats. We highly recommend that you get acquainted with the “Assembly Video” and “Assembly Manual” before getting down to the Planet Express Ship 3D printing model.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model’s scale was calculated from the size of the Planet Express Ship. The 3D printing model’s chosen scales are 1:128 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:256 for the DLP/SLA version.

VERSIONS’ SPECIFICATIONS

FFF/FDM 1.0 version features:

  • Contains 98 parts;
  • A printed model is 233 mm tall, 172 mm wide, 506 mm deep (with stand);
  • A printed model is 156 mm tall, 92 mm wide, 486 mm deep;
  • Highly detailed cockpit and interior;
  • Option to display the ship with or without a platform;
  • Nose ramp with options for both closed and open positions;
  • The choice between deployed landing struts or cover caps;
  • The cargo bay is equipped with an active crane for efficient loading/unloading;
  • Convenient access to the cargo bay;
  • The turret is capable of movement;
  • Removable top for detailed interior exploration;
  • Possibility to introduce lighting inside the model;
  • All parts are divided in such a way that you will print them with the smallest number of support structures.

DLP/SLA 1.0 version features:

  • Contains 84 parts;
  • A printed model is 116 mm tall, 86 mm wide, 256 mm deep (with stand);
  • A printed model is 78 mm tall, 86 mm wide, 243 mm deep;
  • Highly detailed cockpit and interior;
  • Option to display the ship with or without a platform;
  • Nose ramp with options for both closed and open positions;
  • The choice between deployed landing struts or cover caps;
  • The cargo bay is equipped with an active crane for efficient loading/unloading;
  • Convenient access to the cargo bay;
  • The turret is capable of movement;
  • Removable top for detailed interior exploration;

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use, and especially the particular assembly part you are working with. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review, and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

Note:

  • You can scale up the model (downscaling for FFF/FDM 3D printers is not recommended!);
  • All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill.

Cura printing recommendations:

These are averaged settings which were tested in the Cura 5.2.1 slicer. Test models were printed on Anycubic Vyper, Creality Ender 3 Pro with PLA filament.
