ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

B2-series super battle droids were majorly deployed during the Clone Wars. Dark and menacing, they represent the brutal force and advanced technology invented to crush the opponent. And although they lack agility and processing power in certain aspects, their design is undoubtedly memorable and perfect for our collection of Star Wars 3D prints!

The Super Battle Droid 3D Printing Model was created to guard your workshop with dedication. The model captures the sleek yet hunky build of the droid and features a variety of armaments for your battlefield encounters. The droid for 3D printing has both fully active and simplified static versions - all for you to enjoy the 3D printing process and the model’s display to the max.

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

Super Battle Droid for 3D printing is an active assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took the Gambody team 45 hours in total.

For you to receive the cleanest 3D printing result possible and minimize the amount of filament needed for generated support, the droid was divided into convenient assembly parts.

All assembly parts in the FFF/FDM 1.0 version are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any model's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF format. We highly recommend that you get acquainted with the “Assembly video” and "Assembly Manual" before getting down to the Super Battle Droid model.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.The model’s scale was calculated from the height of the Super Battle Droid which is 1930 mm. The 3D printing model’s chosen scales are 1:4 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:8 for the DLP/SLA versions.

Below you can find printing recommendations for CuraSimplify3DSlic3r and PrusaSlicer software.

Cura printing recommendations:

These are basic settings that were tested in Cura 4.8.0 slicer.

The test models were printed on Ultimaker 2, Creality Ender 3, Creality CR-10S Pro V2, Anycubic I3 Mega, Anycubic I3 MegaS 3D printers with PLA and PETG filaments.

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use and especially the particular assembly part at hand. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

Note:
- You can scale up the model (downscaling is not recommended!);
- All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill;
- For all parts of locks (“ge_lock” in “Source files”) you need to change "Brim" type to "Skirt" in Build Plate Adhesion section.

Slic3r printing recommendations:

These basic 3D printing settings recommendations for beginners were tested in Slic3r 1.3.0 software. Test models were printed on Ultimaker 2, Creality Ender 3, Creality Cr-10S pro v2, Anycubic I3 Mega, Anycubic I3 MegaS, Anycubic Vyper with PLA and PetG filaments.

Note:

- You can upscale your 3D printing models. Downscaling is not recommended - it can make smaller parts of the model unprintable, distort the model’s level of detail and result in assembly issues.
- All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill.
- When printing Lock connectors, we recommend setting the “Brim width” parameter to 0 in the "Skirt and Brim" print settings. In that way, the Locks will be 3D printed with a Skirt only.

Extrusion width
You can try setting all parameters in this section, except the First layer, to values between 0.75% of your nozzle diameter and 1.25% of your nozzle diameter. Adjusting them will help you work out the optimal parameters for the best quality for your print. As for the First layer, you can set it to 150% of the diameter of your nozzle for better adhesion to the build plate (for a nozzle with a diameter of 0.4 mm, the First layer extrusion width can be from 0.3 mm to 0.5 mm)

PrusaSlicer printing recommendations:

These basic 3D printing settings recommendations for beginners were tested in PrusaSlicer 2.3.1.

In order to see all the parameters listed below, you need to enable the Expert mode in the PrusaSlicer’s settings.
