ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL
All of a sudden, a mysterious and ruthless race of horned humanoid aliens has invaded the Earth and unleashed their Beast Fighters onto the planet. In order to stop the Boazan invaders and prevent the alien conquest of the home planet, a group of specially trained individuals is assembled to become the pilots of the Voltes V, also known as "Super Electromagnetic Machine Voltes V". This formidable battle robot comprises five separate “Volt Machines”, each operated by a brave hero. Directly from the 80s, Voltes V finally joins our selection of 3D printing Super Robots!
Known to be an exceptional engineer and a fan of classic Japanese mecha, the author of the Voltes V 3D printing model dedicated much thought and effort to the preparation of the super robot that is to be assembled out of five separate machines. Indeed, the fully combined Voltes V comprises Volt Crewzer, Volt Bomber, Volt Panzer, Volt Frigate and Volt Lander that can be displayed independently as well! Reinforce the struggle against Boazan invaders by 3D printing your own Voltes V!
ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING
Voltes V model for 3D printing is a fully articulated assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 40 hours in total. In order to ensure the transformation of five separate Voltes into Voltes V robot, the joints of the model were equipped with a system of articulated interlocking mechanisms.
For you to have an opportunity to display your Voltes V in various positions, robot’s neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, fingers, knee and feet were made articulated. The model can be assembled without glue or screws but you will need additional “pins” to secure the parts. These pins do not come in STL files but can be made out of short pieces of regular 1.75 PLA.
All the assembly parts are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and to make sure that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any model's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 1.0 version in PDF format. Make sure to watch "Assembly video" in the photo preview section and read the "Assembly Manual" before getting down to the Voltes V model.
The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.
The model's scale was calculated from the height of the Voltes V which is 58000 mm. The 3D printing model's chosen scale is 1:208 for the FFF/FDM version.

Below you can find printing recommendations for Cura, Simplify3D and Slic3r software.
These are basic settings that were tested in Cura 4.8.0 slicer.
The test models were printed on Ultimaker 2, Creality Ender 3, Creality CR-10S Pro V2, Anycubic I3 Mega, Anycubic I3 MegaS 3D printers with PLA and PETG filaments.
Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use and especially the particular assembly part at hand. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.
Note:
- You can scale up the model (downscaling is not recommended!);
- All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill;
- For all parts of locks (“ge_lock” in “Source files”) you need to change "Brim" type to "Skirt" in Build Plate Adhesion section.
