ABOUT THIS 3D FIGURINE

Had Ridley Scott chosen any other alien concept art but H.R. Giger’s for his horror movie, it is very unlikely that the Alien franchise would have blossomed into a sci-fi classic the way it did. Necronom IV by the renowned Swiss artist laid the unrivalled foundation for the onscreen incarnation of evil and Giger’s trademark biomechanical style defined the image of the cinema's most terrifying extraterrestrial.

Inspired by Giger’s otherworldly heritage and the classy, landmark sci-movie, our contributing 3D artist approached the 3D printing project from his own perspective. Despite being symbolically titled “Alien Xenomorph Birth”, the 3D printing concept instantly meets the viewers’ diverse interpretations. The exquisite, almost symmetric, biomechanical creature may embody the cycle of life or the lifecycle of the Xenomorph itself. It may incarnate a cross between the synthesis of collective human fears and the viewers’ search for protection in the unknown. Yin and yang, anxiety and serenity, unsettling darkness the viewer fears to confront and the calmness of the infinite void of space. Majestic and elegant, the Alien Birth scene may remind you of a deep-sea Nautilus Shell covered with elaborate ridges and protrusions or of a motorcycle fused with its rider. No matter what your first association is, we are sure you will want to have the mystical Xenomorph Birth concept added to your collection.

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

Alien Birth figurine for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 38 hours. The figurine’s anatomy and proportions were thoroughly reviewed during the moderation process for the highly detailed alien creature to be depicted harmoniously in the intended pose.

The model’s cutting was chosen by our team to minimise the amount of generated support and some of the parts were hollowed out for you to save resin in the Eco version. In order to conceal the places where the assembly parts of the model must be connected, the figurine was cut along the anatomic folds of the alien’s exoskeleton. For you to achieve the cleanest 3D printed result, the figurine’s headdorsal tubesspiky tail, feet, hands, etc. are provided as separate assembly parts.

All assembly parts come in STL files of FFF/FDM version in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and so that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any figurine's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF format.

The figurine is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from Xenomorph's average height which is 2200 mm. The 3D printing figurine's chosen scale is 1:8 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:16 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.
