ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

Fast, agile, and endowed with great power, Balrogs are giant fire spirits who are capable of shrouding themselves in darkness and fire. Balrogs were affiliated with Melkor, the initial source of evil in Eä, and were forced to serve the most powerful of Ainur. Durin's Bane is the Balrog who was awakened by the Fellowship of the Ring in Moria and entered into battle with the leader of the company, a wise wizard Gandalf. The Battle of the Peak, the confrontation of good and evil, is one of the most memorable moments in the story that reveals the depth of both characters.

The Balrog bust for 3D printing created by Gambody contributor is a fascinating view — the author of the figurine spent hours of meticulous work recreating the appearance of the villain, incorporating precise details, imparting mimics and emotions that characterize this fantasy creature. Looking at this bust you return to the events of the movie and feel the scale of horror Balrog carries. The burning fire which is a symbol of the nature of the demon was taken as the basis during the design of one of the variants of the bust. This iconic figurine definitely deserves to be added to your LOTR collection!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

Balrog Bust for 3D printing is a static assembly figurine and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took the Gambody team 45 hours in total. The figurines' anatomy and proportions were thoroughly reviewed during the moderation process for the monster to be depicted harmoniously in the intended pose.

The figurine’s cutting was chosen by our team to minimise the amount of generated support and some of the parts were hollowed out for you to save resin in the Eco version. In order to conceal the places where the assembly parts of the figurine are connected, Balrog was divided into convenient assembly parts.

All assembly parts in the FFF/FDM 1.0 version are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any model's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF format. We highly recommend that you get acquainted with the “Assembly Video” and "Assembly Manual" before getting down to Balrog Bust.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The figurine’s scale was calculated from the height of Balrog. The 3D printing figurine’s chosen scales are 1:8 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:16 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.
