ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

Galactica-type Battlestar is a capital ship that was designed and deployed after the outbreak of hostilities between the Cylons and Colonials. The military craft is equipped with sublight and maneuvering engines, it can accommodate a crew of 5000 people and is armed with heavy weaponry. Battlestar Galactica operates as a fighter carrier, a battleship and a mobile base of operations all in one.

Inspired by the iconic 1978 TV series, our contributing 3D artist created the Battlestar Galactica 1978 model for 3D printing. The starship has several design choices that allow you to show creativity while painting and displaying the model. There is wiring to introduce LEDs to light up engines, landing bays and bridge of the craft. A great model for 3D printing that can bring you an unforgettable experience and much enjoyment!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

Battlestar Galactica 1978 for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took the Gambody team 38 hours in total.

For you to receive the cleanest 3D printing result possible, minimize the amount of filament needed for generated support, and make use of the active elements designed by Gambody Engineers, the battleship was divided into convenient assembly parts.

All assembly parts in the FFF/FDM 1.0 version are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won’t face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any model’s file you will also receive “Assembly Manual” for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF format. We highly recommend that you get acquainted with the “Assembly Video” and “Assembly Manual” before getting down to the Battlestar Galactica 1978 model.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model’s scale was calculated from the length of the Battlestar Galactica 1978. The 3D printing model’s chosen scales are 1:2000 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:4000 for the DLP/SLA version.
