ABOUT THIS 3D FIGURINE

Deathwing, also commonly referred to as the Destroyer, used to be one of the five Dragon Aspects and the leader of the Black Dragonflight. Deathwing made his debut in the World of Warcraft franchise as a cameo appearance during one of the battles, and later, after being driven mad by the Old Gods, the Destroyer confronted the other Aspects during the War of the Ancients. This crucial moment changed the dragon’s nature, rendering him the Aspect of Death, which marked him with four armour plates and a molten heart full of magma. Being inspired by the ferocious dragon, the author of the Deathwing model for 3D printing spent 284 hours to depict the raging beast towering over the fragments of the Stormwind City castle. The Worldbreaker is known for carrying all living beings into their deaths, leaving no efforts to defeat him. The 3D artist skillfully emphasised the unstoppable power of Deathwing to unleash the destruction by spreading the dragon’s tremendous wings and depicting its sharp pounces and angry horns so very detailed. As if ready to scorch all the foes beneath the shadow of his wings, 3D printing Deathwing rises up over the collapsing towers, showcasing the fiery magma flowing beneath its scales. “A black, crag-covered mountain of scales” proved its ability to leave mere ashes of every enemy that was caught in the flames. Now by the means of 3D printing, you have a chance to capture the incredible moment and put the Deathwing model on your shelf!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

Deathwing figurine for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 82 hours in total. The model’s cutting was chosen by our team to minimise the amount of filament needed for generated support and some of the parts were hollowed out for you to save resin in the figurine’s Eco version. The Deathwing, as well as the fragment of the Stormwind castle, was divided into as many assembly parts as needed to fit even the smallest 3D printers' build plates and for you to nevertheless receive a large winged beast after assembly. In order to receive the cleanest result possible the creature’s upper jaw and the tongue were extracted from the mouth and are now provided as separate parts, as well as the beast’s lower metal jaw, all horns, talons on the end of each limb, every pounce, sharp crests on the head etc. Moreover, in order to conceal places where assembly parts of the model must be connected, the figurine was cut along the contour of Deathwing’s scorched scales’ seams. All assembly parts are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. All parts have special connecting elements for you to assemble the figurine in the easiest way possible and there are locks provided to connect some details if you don’t want to glue the parts. When downloading any figurine's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 1.0 and DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF format.

The figurine is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from Deathwing's wingspan that is 365000 mm. The 3D printing figurine's chosen scale is 1/300 for the FFF/FDM version and 1/600 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.

Below you can find printing recommendations for Cura, Simplify3D, Slic3r and PrusaSlicer software.

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use, and especially the particular assembly part you are working with. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review, and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

Note:

  • You can scale up the model (downscaling for FFF/FDM 3D printers is not recommended!);
  • All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill.
