ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

Fell Beasts are coal-black flying creatures that the Nazgûl used both for transportation and mounted during some battles. These giant winged beasts are considered to have appeared from “an older world”. And though this species was expected to go extinct, Sauron most likely saved the creatures to breed and give to his servants, the dreaded Ringwraiths. Fell Beasts have large, bat-like wings, their bodies aren’t covered either with feathers or scales and moreover, the flying steeds give off a stench. Their scream is piercing and raucous as if metal clanking - due to this fact the creatures are sometimes considered to be undead though they are perfectly mortal. At first, the Nazgûl used to ride their black horses which were killed in the flood as the Nine pursued Frodo. Both Legolas and Éowyn managed to slay one Fell Beast each. And the very last representatives of their kind were destroyed by a gigantic volcanic eruption once Sauron was ultimately defeated.

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

The design is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers

FDM version features:

  • Contains 39 parts;
  • Assembly kit includes Locks. One part of  Lock (39_Ge_lock_10H_x33) needs to be printed 33 times. One part of  Lock (38_Ge_lock_7S(x3)) needs to be printed 33 times;
  • Made with increased detalization compared to the film;
  • Made in a pose in which he was at the final battle near Minas Tirith;
  • All parts are divided in such a way that you will print them with the smallest number of support structures.

DLP/SLA version features:

  • Same as FDM but smaller, also made as 19 parts;

DLP/SLA Eco version features:

  • Same as the DLP/SLA version, but contains parts hollowed out to save resin;

SLS version features:

  • Same as SLA but made as 4 parts to save your material;

All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

Note: Before starting 3D printing the model, read the Printing Details for Cura, Bambu Studio, Simplify3D, Slic3r or PrusaSlicer Software.

There are 39 parts for FFF/FDM version, 19 parts for DLP/SLA and for DLP/SLA Eco versions, 4 parts for SLS.

Scale: Fell beast actual height is 15000 mm. The model’s chosen scale is 1/16 for the FFF/FDM version and 1/32 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.

FFF/FDM version dimensions:

  • A printed model is 328 mm tall, 536 mm wide, 620 mm deep;

DLP/SLA/SLA Eco/SLS version dimensions:

  • A printed model is 164 mm tall, 268 mm wide, 310 mm deep;
  • Has few details, to keep printing costs down.

Below you can find printing recommendations for Cura, Bambu Lab, Simplify3D, Slic3r and PrusaSlicer software.

Disclaimer: The following printing settings are a recommendation, not an obligation. The parameters can vary depending on the peculiarities of your 3D printer, the material you use, and especially the particular assembly part you are working with. Each part that any model comprises often needs preliminary review, and you are free to tweak the settings the way you find suitable.

Note:

You can scale up the model (downscaling for FFF/FDM 3D printers is not recommended!);

All connectors should be printed at 100% Infill.
