ABOUT THIS 3D FIGURINE

Gandalf the Gray is one of the main characters and a key figure in the fantasy classics The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. A wise sorcerer and member of the White Council, he never left the weak in trouble and always provided help where needed. His paramount mission was to help the free peoples of Middle-earth withstand the destructive and corrupting power of the Dark Lord Sauron. During this perilous journey, Gandalf had to face the ancient creature Balrog and sacrifice his life to defeat it. But the supreme deity of Middle-earth brought the leader of the Fellowship of the Ring back to life so he could continue his heroic journey.

The episode of the battle between Gandalf and the Balrog, known as Durin's Bane, is one of the most memorable in the movie as it shows the confrontation of two great opposing forces and exactly this episode inspired our contributor to create this stunning figurine for 3D printing. We see Gandalf depicted in a decisive posture holding his weapons ready to oppose his demonic enemy. It is amazing how the 3D artist managed to recreate the appearance of Gandalf: you can easily recognize the protagonist by his facial features and mimics and the mastery of the sculptor definitely deserves praise. Just imagine how great it will be to print these files — every fan of LOTR should have this legendary character in their collection!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

Gandalf the Grey for 3D printing is a static assembly figurine and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took the Gambody team 67 hours in total. The figurines' anatomy and proportions were thoroughly reviewed during the moderation process for the wizard to be depicted harmoniously in the intended pose.

The figurine’s cutting was chosen by our team to minimise the amount of generated support and some of the parts were hollowed out for you to save resin in the Eco version. In order to conceal the places where the assembly parts of the figurine are connected, Gandalf was divided into convenient assembly parts.

All assembly parts in the FFF/FDM 1.0 version are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any model's file you will also receive "Assembly Manual" for FFF/FDM 2.0 and DLP/SLA 2.0 versions in PDF format. We highly recommend that you get acquainted with the “Assembly Video” and "Assembly Manual" before getting down to Gandalf the Grey 3D Printing Figurine in Diorama.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The figurine’s scale was calculated from the height of Gandalf which is 1700 mm. The 3D printing figurine’s chosen scales are 1:8 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:16 for the DLP/SLA/SLS versions.
