ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

A Shuttle is a small, 20-ton short-range cargo spacecraft carried by Serenity ship from the Firefly sci-fi television series. The transport vessel owned by Captain Malcolm Reynolds was equipped with 2 such self-contained Endo/Exo-atmospheric Shuttles though Shuttle "No. 2" was known to be indefinitely rented out to Inara Serra. The life-support systems and interior of one such Shuttle is designed to fit four passengers at a time. Once loaded the cargo vessel is forwarded with the help of Serenity’s special Shuttle Deployment Arm and when activated is able to function well both in the atmosphere and in space. The author of this nice little Shuttle for 3D printing couldn’t let the Serenity spacecraft be without its loyal companion and spend 92 hours to design the spacecraft that would complement the Firefly-class transport. The shuttle is depicted just the way one would expect the vessel to be found on Serenity’s docking “shelf”: it has a large rudder, air intake and exterior that was worked upon with meticulous attention to detail. The wings of the 3D printing model are designed in such a way that the Shuttle can be displayed either in launch position, stowed or with the wings extended. For you to attach the Shuttle to its designated place on the Serenity spaceship, there is a special 1:200 version of the vessel available that is made to scale. We are pretty sure that is the addition all Firefly fans will be thrilled to get, so don’t wait up - order the STL files now!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

Serenity Shuttle for 3D printing is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took Gambody team 33 hours in total. For you to display the model in any mode you prefer, the Shuttle’s wings are supplied with special mechanisms that ensure their multidirectional movement. The 3D printing model comes with a stand that is optional - if willing you can conceal the hole designated for the base with a special lid that is provided in the assembly kit. Three Shuttle’s windows are provided as separate files for you to print them with transparent filament and access the highly-detailed cockpit that also comes separately. For you to display the Shuttle on its designated place on the Serenity spaceship there was a 1:200 version of the model prepared that corresponds with the FFF/FDM version of the ship. All the assembly parts are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out so to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and so that the 3D printing beginners won't face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model's scale was calculated from the actual length of the Shuttle that is 13380 mm. The 3D printing model's chosen scale is 1/60 for FFF/FDM version and 1/200 for DLP/SLA/SLS version.
