ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

The 5th generation light cycle from "Tron: Legacy" represents a significant evolution from the original models introduced in the 1982 film "Tron." Originally conceived by designer Syd Mead, these iconic vehicles symbolize the blend of technological innovation and visual spectacle. This latest model, characterized by its streamlined design and enhanced functionality, plays a pivotal role in the film’s high-speed action sequences, showcasing a blend of nostalgia and modern digital artistry.

Our contributing 3D artist has skillfully captured the essence of the TRON Light Cycle 3D printing model with remarkable precision. The model features smoothly rotating wheels on bearings, extendable side wings, and two options for engine side covers. Additionally, the rear cover can be opened to reveal intricate details, and there is a removable battery access cover. The backrest is designed to be slightly raised, and the engines themselves are capable of rotation, bringing this iconic piece of cinematic technology to life with dynamic functionality.

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

The TRON Light Cycle model for 3D printing is an active assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took the Gambody team 107 hours in total.

For you to receive the cleanest 3D printing result possible, minimize the amount of filament needed for generated support, and make use of the active elements designed by Gambody Engineers, the car was divided into convenient assembly parts.

All assembly parts in the FFF/FDM 1.0 version are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won’t face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any model’s file you will also receive “Assembly Manual” for FFF/FDM/DLP/SLA 1.0 versions in PDF and video formats. We highly recommend that you get acquainted with the “Assembly Video” and “Assembly Manual” before getting down to the TRON Light Cycle 3D printing model.

The model is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The model’s scale was calculated from the length of the vehicle. The 3D printing model’s chosen scales are 1:8 for the FFF/FDM version and 1:16 for the DLP/SLA version.
