ABOUT THIS 3D MODEL

The USOS Seaview submarine, featured in the 1961 movie Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and the popular 1960s submarine TV show, is a masterpiece of retro sci-fi. Designed by Admiral Harriman Nelson, the Seaview stood out with its shark-nosed hull featuring panoramic X-tempered Herculite windows, a modern nuclear propulsion system, and elegant stabilizers inspired by manta rays. The submarine was intended not only for exploration: it carried a mini-submarine, a diving bell, and equipment for classified military missions.

The 3D model of the Seaview submarine for 3D printing is a remarkable creation by a Gambody contributor, faithfully recreating all the details of this legendary vessel. This submarine 3d model was designed with its aquatic capabilities in mind, allowing anyone to bring its propellers to life and amaze everyone at the nearest lake. The model includes the iconic shark-nosed hull with panoramic windows, stabilizers, and meticulously detailed interior elements, and it is designed for convenient assembly. For fans of comic conventions and vibrant exhibitions, the submarine includes a removable nose cover that provides easy access and a view of the cabin. Additionally, the submarine is equipped with missile hatches that can be opened to reveal missiles, surprising everyone around.

The model also supports lighting, allowing the interior spaces and navigation lights to come to life, making it even more impressive. The model’s stand replicates an underwater docking station, making it a great decor idea, even for aquariums. This watercraft STL model is perfect for fans of retro sci-fi and marine themes. The Seaview submarine will be a fantastic addition for fans of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and retro sci-fi. Don’t miss the chance to enrich your collection of STL files for 3D printing with this iconic 3D model of the submarine!

ADAPTATION FOR 3D PRINTING

The Seaview submarine 3D printing design is a static assembly model and its moderation and adaptation for different types of 3D printers took the Gambody team 104 hours in total.

For you to receive the cleanest 3D printing result possible, minimize the amount of filament needed for generated support, and make use of the active elements designed by Gambody Engineers, the Seaview submarine was divided into convenient assembly parts.

All assembly parts in the 1.0 FFF/FDM version are provided in STL files in recommended positions that were worked out in order to ensure the smoothness of the details’ surfaces after printing and that the 3D printing beginners won’t face difficulties when placing the parts on a build plate. When downloading any model’s file you will also receive “Assembly Manual” for 1.0 FFF/FDM and 1.0 DLP/SLA versions in PDF and video formats. We highly recommend that you get acquainted with the “Assembly Video” and “Assembly Manual” before getting down to the Seaview submarine 3D model.

The design is saved in STL files, a format supported by most 3D printers. All STL files for 3D printing have been checked in Netfabb and no errors were shown.

The 3D model’s scale was calculated from the length of the USOS Seaview Submarine. The 3D printer design’s chosen scales are 1/128 for the FFF/FDM version and 1/256 for the DLP/SLA version.
